When a Small Drywall Problem Is Worth Fixing Now

Most drywall damage starts small. A doorknob punches through, a nail pops along a ceiling seam, or a brown ring spreads overhead after a leak upstairs. Cosmetic holes can wait. A water stain shouldn't, because it means moisture reached the drywall, and wet drywall can sag, crumble or grow mold if the source keeps leaking. The trouble with a DIY patch is the finish. A spackle repair that sits slightly raised, or gets painted in the wrong sheen, shows up the moment light crosses the wall.

Warning signs
  • Doorknob or furniture holes in walls
  • Brown or yellow water rings on a ceiling
  • Cracked or peeling tape along seams
  • Nail pops showing as small bumps in a row
  • Sagging or soft ceiling drywall after a leak
  • Old patches that show through the paint
What's Included

Drywall Repair in Mebane: How We Make Patches Disappear

Drywall repair at Roca's covers both the patch and the paint that hides it, and the job isn't done until you can't see where the damage was. We handle holes, cracked seams, nail pops and water-damaged ceilings, plus the drywall repairs uncovered during popcorn ceiling removal. Jose looks at the damage in person and asks what caused it. If water is involved, he'll tell you plainly that the leak has to be fixed first. Moisture leaks are excluded from our warranty, and a patch over an active leak won't hold. You get the quote the day he visits.

Patching by Size

Small holes and nail pops are filled, taped where needed and feathered out. Larger damage is cut back to solid drywall, backed and fitted with a new piece, then taped along every seam so the edges don't crack later. Water-stained ceiling drywall that's still firm can often be sealed and repainted, while sagging or soft sections are cut out and replaced. Nail pops are usually fasteners pushed out as framing lumber shifts, so the fastener is reset or replaced with a screw before the spot is filled. Cracks that run at an angle from the corners of doors and windows are often from normal settling. Those get re-taped, and if a crack pattern looks like more than settling, Jose will say so and suggest having it checked before we patch it.

Finishing So It Blends

Joint compound goes on in thin coats with sanding between them, and the repair is feathered wide so it doesn't leave a hump. If the wall or ceiling has texture, the crew matches it. The patch is then primed, because bare compound absorbs paint differently and shows as a dull spot. Last, the surface is repainted so color and sheen stay consistent.

Keeping Dust Contained

Floors and furniture near the repair are covered, and sanding dust is cleaned up at the end of each day.

Checking the Result

Before the crew leaves, you look at the repair with them in the room's normal light, and leftover paint stays with you. Drywall and ceiling repairs are named in our 1-year workmanship warranty. If a patch we finished cracks or shows through within the year, we come back and fix it at no charge. New damage from a leak or structural movement isn't covered, which is why the cause gets sorted out first. The photos below show repairs before and after.

Repair and Paint, One Crew

The crew that patches the drywall also repaints it. You won't book a drywall contractor and then go hunting for a painter willing to take a small job.

Cause Before Cover-Up

If water caused the damage, Jose tells you at the estimate that the leak needs fixing first. A patch over an active leak fails, so the repair waits until the source is handled.

Primed So It Doesn't Flash

Bare joint compound soaks up paint differently than the wall around it, and that dull spot is the giveaway of a rushed patch. Every repair gets primer before its finish coat.

Checked in Real Room Light

You inspect the finished repair with the crew in the light you actually live with, where a raised edge or a sheen mismatch would show first.

A Year of Coverage

Drywall and ceiling repairs are named in our 1-year workmanship warranty. A seam we taped that cracks, or a patch that shows through, gets fixed free within that year.

Our Process

How Our Drywall Repair Works

1

Find the Cause

Jose looks at the damage, asks what happened and checks for signs of active moisture. Your quote comes that day, with any leak flagged for fixing first.

2

Cut, Back and Patch

Damaged drywall is cut back to solid material, backed and patched, or small holes are filled. Seams are taped so the edges don't crack later.

3

Finish, Sand and Prime

Thin coats of compound are sanded smooth and feathered wide, texture is matched where needed, and the repair is primed so it won't show.

4

Repaint and Review

The wall or ceiling is repainted to match, dust is cleaned up, and you review the finished repair with the crew before they leave.

Pricing

How Much Does Drywall Repair Cost in Mebane?

Because drying time between coats counts as working time, drywall repair is priced on the full time the job takes. A doorknob hole and a water-damaged ceiling end up priced very differently. Jose quotes after seeing the damage, and the main factors are:

Your quote includes protection, patching, finishing, primer, paint, cleanup and leftover paint. Fixing the plumbing or roof leak that caused water damage is not part of our work, so a plumber or roofer handles that before we start. The price is fixed before the crew arrives. If the room needs repainting anyway, one visit can cover both the repair and the paint.

$250 OFF

On projects of $2,000 or more

Drywall Repair FAQ

Drywall repair usually spans more than one day, because joint compound has to dry between coats before sanding and paint. A small hole takes far less time than a ceiling section that's cut out and replaced. Jose tells you at the estimate how many days the crew will be in and out, so you can plan around the room.
